Untitled
This is a collage I worked on last night for Handmade Parade. It measures 8" x 10" and includes acrylic paint, tissue paper background, pencil, gesso, collage, and found text. The image (one of my favorites) is from an advertisement in a retro-era magazine.
After finishing this one, I lined it up with some others I did last year and it was interesting to me to see how - without purposely trying - I have a little series going where I've used similar imagery and colors. I know I'm not alone when I worry about matters of originality and style in my artwork ... this little epiphany certainly shores up my confidence in this area. There are definite elements and colors that appear in my work without my even realizing it.
I'm at a loss for titling my work right now. Mr. P. is very good at naming artwork. He does it in a sarcastic manner (he likes to make fun of the stereotypical beret-wearing Artiste) but I have used some of his faux titles for my work.
Maybe I can use my new morning routine to dream up clever titles for present and future artwork?
Today was my first day getting out of bed an hour early instead of waiting until the last moment to begrudgingly start my work day. It's only the first day, but - wow - what a difference. I mostly noticed a difference in my attitude. I got up, had some coffee with Mr. P. (which delighted him - who knew it was so easy?), then puttered around in my bathrobe and slippers, tweaking my Handmade Parade booth (I have it set up in the hallway) and laying out papers for stuff I want to work on tonight. I was more relaxed and patient during my commute. It was a complete change from my usual grumpy morning routine.
Day Six: NaBloPoMo

This is nice! I like the pencil on the dress and the texture of the background.
Good for you for getting up an hour early! Interesting that it changed your mood on your commute. I got up early on Monday being off from the time change, it was nice. Today I over slept, ah well.

Lovely. This is a wonderfully strong image with a wistful air about it.
Ooh, well done on the early start - something I need to do too by the sounds of it... :)
